A Husband’s Story, Ed

Connie portraitConnie Becky portrait

Connie’s husband wore this flannel shirt to do the fix-it jobs he so enjoyed. One lone well lived-in, paint stained, soft flannel shirt tucked away after Ed’s death now months later became two custom red plaid pillows.

He was in every sense of the word a large man and had filled Connie’s life with love, family and community. She had been about the business of mourning, remembering in reverent memorial services and seaside gatherings the geography and milestones of their married life. Days were filled with traveling to see family and friends.

Upon her return, her dear friend Becky had discovered without-end heirloom, memorial pillows made from the clothing of a loved one. The two friends laughed and cried over the idea of transformation. That a pillow could be a gentle call to life anew and a conversation starter to tell the stories of her beloved husband. Ed’s spirit fills the lives of their children and grandchildren as he lives on……
